The Vice Chancellor of Gombe State University, Prof. Sani Ahmed Yauta, has reaffirmed his commitment to elevating the institution to international prominence through academic excellence, research innovation, and strategic partnerships. Addressing newsmen in his office, Prof. Yauta expressed profound appreciation to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for confirming his appointment, describing the governor’s support for the university as “immeasurable and unprecedented.”  He assured that he would work tirelessly to justify the confidence reposed in him by the state government. Football lovers in Gombe South have every reason to celebrate as preparations reach top gear for the ninth edition of the Adamu Yola Gombe South Unity Football Cup Competition. Chairman of the Main Organising Committee, Promise Uwaeme, made the disclosure at least press conference in Kaltungo, heralding the commencement of the competition. A total of sixty-four clubs will  participate in this year’s tournament.  He explained that the competition will be strictly regulated, with each club allowed to register 23 players and 7 officials. Mr. Uwaeme revealed that in the spirit of reconciliation, all clubs that were previously suspended have now been pardoned.  However, Kalarin United will not be part of this year’s edition after the team took its suspension matter to a conventional court rather than settling it within the football family.
