The Vice Chancellor of Gombe State University, Prof. Sani Ahmed Yauta, has reaffirmed his commitment to elevating the institution to international prominence through academic excellence, research innovation, and strategic partnerships.
Addressing newsmen in his office, Prof. Yauta expressed profound appreciation to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for confirming his appointment, describing the governor’s support for the university as “immeasurable and unprecedented.”
He assured that he would work tirelessly to justify the confidence reposed in him by the state government.
The Vice Chancellor disclosed that the university is developing new academic programmes in petroleum, gas, and energy-related studies to strategically align with opportunities arising from the Kolmani oil exploration.
According to him, the discovery of oil and gas in the Kolmani axis presents a unique opportunity for Gombe State University to play a key role in training skilled manpower for the energy sector.
“We are designing academic programmes in petroleum engineering, gas technology, and energy economics so that our students will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to participate actively in this new frontier,” Prof. Yauta explained.
He noted that the initiative would not only expand the university’s academic offerings but also strengthen its research capacity and create career opportunities for graduates.
He added that the programmes would contribute to the socio-economic transformation of Gombe State and Nigeria at large.
Prof. Yauta emphasized that with continued government support and strategic planning, Gombe State University would become a hub of innovation, research, and human capital development that meets both local and global needs.
