Community Ownership Key to Project Success, Gombe ACReSAL Warns

By Halilu Mohammed Teli  The Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) in Gombe State has raised concerns over acts of vandalism at some of its intervention sites, warning that damage to project infrastructure could undermine efforts to tackle land degradation and climate-related challenges in the state. The State Project Coordinator, Dr. Sani Adamu Jauro, said reports indicated that protective fences installed around gully erosion control sites had been dismantled in some communities, threatening the sustainability of the facilities. “We have received reports that some individuals are removing the protective fences put in place to secure our gully erosion sites. This is unfortunate and unacceptable,” Jauro said. Accountability in Action: Gombe Allocates Two Billion for ACReSAL Dispute Resolution

The Gombe State Government has set aside over two billion Naira to address possible complaints arising from the implementation of the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) project. The State Project Coordinator, Dr. Sani Adamu Jauro, made this known while speaking to journalists on the sidelines of an ongoing stakeholders’ training on the Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) in Bauchi. According to him, the approval was granted by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya to ensure that all genuine grievances from prospective beneficiaries are promptly and transparently addressed during the course of project execution. The Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) project has described the media as a critical partner in ensuring the success and sustainability of its interventions in Gombe State. Speaking on the second day of the five-day stakeholders’ training workshop on the Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM), the Gombe State Project Coordinator of ACReSAL, Dr Sani Adamu Jauro, emphasised the importance of journalists in promoting transparency and safeguarding public projects. “The media remain strategic partners in the success of ACReSAL projects. Bichi First FC bolster squad with five new signings ahead of NNL second stanza

Bichi First FC have confirmed the signing of five players as they strengthen their squad for the second stanza of the Nigeria National League (NNL) season. The new arrivals are midfielder Umar Sani (Sekarege) from Kano Pillars, central defender David Havilla from Elkanemi Warriors, striker Wasiu Jimoh from Kwara United, goalkeeper Itodo Akor from Gombe United, and left-back Gods Power from Ahzuba FC. Umahi inaugurates emergency road projects in Gombe

Nigeria’s Minister of Works, David Umahi, has inaugurated a series of bridges and road repairs in Gombe State under the Federal Government’s Emergency Special Intervention Project. The minister, who was represented at the ceremony by the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Gombe State Council, Faruk Mu’azu, said the intervention was approved by President Bola Tinubu to improve traffic flow and road safety in the state. The projects include newly constructed bridges along Ture in Kaltungo on the Gombe–Yola highway, the reinstatement of failed shoulders and repairs of washed-out sections on the Gombe–Bauchi Road, as well as work on the Gombe bypass at Bomala. Minister Hails NEDC’s Compassionate Response to Bauchi Accident

The donation was presented at the NEDC State Office in Gombe and included high-definition Canon and Sony video cameras, tripods, Samsung Galaxy smartphones, and other essential equipment that were either damaged or lost during the accident. Health, Education Facilities Boosted as NEDC Completes Gombe Projects

By Halilu Mohammed Teli  The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has commissioned its newly constructed state office in Gombe and completed the handover of several development projects executed across the state. The new office, located along Bauchi Road, was commissioned by the Deputy Governor of Gombe State, Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau, on behalf of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya. Other projects undertaken by the Commission were commissioned and formally handed over to the Gombe State Government by the Minister of Regional Development, Alhaji Uba Ahamadu Maigari. The projects include the Bogo Primary Health Care Centre, the Gombe Central Medical Store, four newly constructed lecture halls at Gombe State University, and the Faculty of Agriculture at the university’s Malam Sidi campus.
