Gombe FA Launches Historic 32-Team Dare to Dream Super League to Discover Future Stars

32 Teams Set for Inaugural Dare to Dream Gombe State Super League
Thirty-two teams will compete in the maiden edition of the Dare to Dream Gombe State Super League, an initiative of the Gombe State Football Association (FA) aimed at raising the standard of grassroots football in the state.

The draw ceremony was held at the Amina Hall, where the Chairman of the Gombe State FA, Mr. Philibus Yakubu Sarma, said the competition was designed to provide a platform for discovering talented players and preparing them for professional football careers.

"This league is not only about competition; it is also an avenue for identifying talented players with great potential. We want to improve the quality of football in Gombe State and create opportunities for our young players," Sarma said.

He disclosed that the Football Association is in discussions with Sofa Sports to provide live match updates throughout the competition. He added that efforts are also underway to secure sponsors that would enable the live streaming of matches and improve prizes and incentives for participating teams.

Sarma warned that the FA would not tolerate hooliganism during the tournament and assured all clubs of a transparent and fair competition.
"We will not condone hooliganism. Every participating team will be treated fairly, and we expect clubs, players and supporters to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship," he said.

He further noted that the league is expected to improve players' transfer prospects, encouraging participants to aim beyond playing for Gombe United.
"Players should have the ambition to play beyond Gombe United. If you look across the Nigeria Premier Football League and the Nigeria National League, you will find players from Kwara State in almost every team. That is the level we want Gombe players to reach," he added.

Speaking on the technical arrangements, the head of the competition's technical committee, Mr. Ishaya, announced that the tournament will kick off this coming Saturday, with all matches scheduled to be played at the Pantami Stadium.
He explained that gate fees would be reviewed upward to improve referees' indemnities and meet other logistical requirements.

Mr. Ishaya also directed participating clubs to appoint media officers and establish active social media platforms, particularly on Facebook, to regularly provide updates on their activities and matches.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Gombe State Governor on Youth and Sports, Bappah Abdullahi Gombe, described the initiative as the first of its kind in the state and pledged government support for its success.

"This is a commendable initiative that will greatly contribute to football development in Gombe State. I am pleased to sponsor the Man of the Match award throughout the competition," he said.

Goodwill messages were also delivered by stakeholders, including Aliyu Abubakar Lamido, who represented the Green White Green Sporting Center.

"Our doors remain open for collaboration, intervention and partnership towards the development of football in Gombe State," Lamido said.
