We Want To Put GSU On Global Map:Vice Chancellor,Prof Sani Yauta


The Acting Vice Chancellor of Gombe State University has vowed to put the university on global map  through collaborations and provision of enabling environment for lecturers to conduct researches.

In an exclusive interview in his office, the Acting VC also explained that with the support of State Government the Faculty of Environmental Sciences,Dukku Campus is expected to commence academic activities with four courses: Architecture; Estate Management; Quantity Survey and Building Technology by December following approval from the Nigeria University Commission (NUC) for resources verification before final approval.

According to him, the management of the university under his stewardship is assiduously working round the clock to make the institution the best in the country through innovations and incentives packages.

He added GSU is the only university that is running both medicine and pharmacy concurrently in the Northeast region.

The GSU boss expressed appreciation to Governor Inuwa Yahaya for his swift response to the strike embarked by ASUU and other unions which crippled academic activities for over seven weeks through the release of funds to address their demands.

Prof Yauta applauded the university's Governing Council under the leadership of Senator Joshua Lidani for been in the forefront in tackling issues and bringing development to the institution.
" Through the Governing Council the university got over 200 million Naira for promotion arrears before the strike, facilitated the released of over five hundred million Naira for the take off of the Dukku Campus, ensuring that school fees remained affordable to less privileged ones,in addition to numerous completed and ongoing projects".

The GSU VC said being in the heart of the Northeast and the relative peace as well as the quality of education,the university is under pressure for admission from neighbouring states.
" We're running 53 undergraduate programs and 96 postgraduate programs with full accreditation from the NUC. It's the only university in the Northeast region that is running both medicine and pharmacy concurrently ".

Examination for undergraduates will commence on Monday , November 18,2024. He added.
