ACReSAL Strengthens Partnerships as 301 Artillery Regiment, GSU, Farmers Pay Courtesy Visits in Gombe


The Gombe State Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening institutional collaboration and promoting sustainable development as it hosted the Commander of the 301 Artillery Regiment, Col. S.O. Beke, alongside representatives of Gombe State University (GSU) and farmers’ cooperatives on separate courtesy visits.
The high-level engagements, held at the ACReSAL Project Office in Gombe, underscored growing partnerships aimed at enhancing climate resilience, agricultural productivity, and community development across the state.
Support for Nigerian Army, NAOWA
Speaking during the visit of the 301 Artillery Regiment, the State Project Coordinator, Dr. Sani Adamu Jauro, pledged ACReSAL’s support to the Nigerian Army through the provision of critical interventions, including water supply facilities and erosion control measures within military formations.
Dr. Jauro also announced plans to provide livelihood support initiatives for members of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), as part of the project’s broader mandate to improve socio-economic resilience among communities and institutions.
He commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for his unwavering backing of ACReSAL, noting that the administration’s support has enabled the project to implement impactful, community-focused programmes across the state.
In his remarks, Col. S.O. Beke reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to maintaining peace and security in Gombe State, assuring that the military would continue to provide a safe and enabling environment for ACReSAL’s operations and other development initiatives to thrive.
Collaboration with Gombe State University
The ACReSAL Project also received officials from Gombe State University’s Directorate of Advancement. During the interaction, Dr. Jauro assured the institution of support through the establishment of a functional plant nursery, aimed at promoting research, environmental sustainability, and tree-planting initiatives within the university community.
Director of Advancement, Dr. Adamu Jibir, expressed appreciation to ACReSAL for its continued support and pledged the university’s cooperation in advancing climate-smart initiatives and sustainable land management practices.
Boost for Farmers’ Cooperatives
In separate meetings, leaders of Sabon Gari Farmers Multipurpose Cooperative Society and Manoman Rani Tudu Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited commended ACReSAL for its intervention in strengthening agricultural livelihoods.
Dr. Jauro disclosed that the cooperatives would benefit from the provision of farm inputs and smart agricultural advisory services designed to enhance productivity, improve climate adaptation, and boost food security in the state.
The chairmen of the cooperatives thanked the project for its inclusive approach and assured their members’ full cooperation in implementing programmes that promote sustainable farming and environmental restoration.
Driving Climate Resilience in Gombe
With strengthened collaboration among security agencies, academic institutions, and grassroots farmers, the ACReSAL Project continues to position itself as a catalyst for sustainable land restoration, erosion control, and livelihood empowerment in Gombe State.
The engagements highlight the growing synergy among stakeholders committed to building a more climate-resilient and economically vibrant Gombe.
